Journal habits that survive quiet market weeks
Mentoring notes on what to record when there is no trade: structure sketches, invalidation lines, and the questions you will thank yourself for later.
Private mentoring sessions often stall when a student only journals wins and losses. Quiet weeks leave blank pages, and blank pages make the next busy week feel like starting over. We ask mentees to journal structure even when they take no position.
A useful quiet-week entry has three parts: a small sketch of the higher-timeframe map, one sentence on what would invalidate that map, and one observation about volume or session behaviour that does not yet require action. That entry takes ten minutes and keeps the eye trained.
We discourage screenshots without annotation. A raw image of a chart is hard to revisit. A marked image with two levels and a note about why you waited is reusable teaching material for the next mentoring hour.
If you are between courses, try this for a fortnight: five quiet-week entries, no trade required. Bring them to an ASX Pattern Clinic or a mentoring intro call. The conversation improves immediately because we can talk about your maps instead of abstract textbook slides.
